Registration Requirements
During the registration process you will be asked to provide the information listed below to ensure a safe and comfortable visit for your child, and to meet child care licensing requirements.

The following information may be required for registration with Bright Horizons based on state and local child care licensing requirements:
  • Child name and date of birth
  • Name and contact information of your child’s parent(s)/guardian(s)
  • Employer name, job and work contact information for the parent/guardian(s) whose employer(s) participates with Bright Horizons  
  • Description of child allergies or other food restrictions, diagnosed special needs and/or medical conditions and any activities from which your child is restricted
  • Documentation of any custody agreements involving your child, if applicable  
  • The name and contact information for at least one person other then the parent(s)/guardian(s) who can pick your child up from the center in the event of an emergency if the parent(s)/guardian(s) cannot be reached  
  • The name and contact information for at least one person other than the parent(s)/guardian(s) who can make medical decisions for the child in the event of an emergency when the parent(s)/guardian(s) cannot be reached  
  • Name, address and telephone number of your child’s doctor  
  • Name, membership number and member services phone number of your child’s health insurance provider
  • Name, address and telephone number of your child’s dentist
  • Name membership number and member services phone number of your child’ dental insurance provider  
  • State medical forms completed by your child’s doctor based on licensing requirements. (These forms may need to be updated regularly based on state licensing requirements)  
  • Photos of your child, parent(s)/guardian(s) and anyone authorized to pick the child up (Photos can be submitted digitally or via mail)  
  • A signed copy of your child’s registration file to ensure that all information is correct etc.  
  • State specific forms as required by state child care licensing authorities

Registration forms can be obtained via the following methods:
  • Best Method - Online at www.brighthorizons.com/backup (select “Register Your Child/Request Reservations” and log into your online account or create an account if you are new to Bright Horizons back-up care.  If you are new to Bright Horizons back-up care your employer’s username and password will be required to establish your online account.)  
  • By Email – Email parents@brighthorizons.com to request a paper registration packet*  
  • By Phone - Call 866-273-2773 to register by phone or to request a paper registration packet.* 

* This option is not available for all programs

Registration information can be submitted via the following methods:

  • Best Method - Online at www.brighthorizons.com/backup (select “Register Your Child/Request Reservations” and log into your online account or create an account if you are new to Bright Horizons back-up care.  If you are new to Bright Horizons back-up care your employer’s username and password will be required to establish your online account.)

Reservation Request Requirements
  • Parents/Guardians must begin the registration process before requesting reservations  
  • Children must be fully registered with up-to-date registration information before they are able to visit a Bright Horizons center 
Reservation Policy

Confirmed reservations are required for all children participating in a Bright Horizons back-up care program. Bright Horizons accepts reservations one month in advance up to the day care is needed*. All children must have complete and up-to-date registration information in order to visit a Bright Horizons center. Reservations are often considered on a first come, first serve basis, however, some centers may reserve the right to determine reservations based on a variety of factors including prioritizing families from the same client company who have not yet accessed the center.

*Some programs may allow an extended advance reservation period.

Advance reservation requests
Advance reservation requests can be placed by phone or via the online reservation management system. Staff will evaluate advanced reservation requests and respond by email or voicemail as soon as possible, generally by the end of the following business day. When requests for month in advance reservations reach a high volume staff may require up to five business days to evaluate all requests. Parents should be aware that centers experience high demand periods that are usually consistent with public and private school closings. We reserve the right to prioritize families from the same client company who have not yet accessed the center on these busy days. 
Reservation requests less than two days in advance
Reservations requested less than two days prior to the date care is needed cannot be accommodated by the online reservation management system. To request reservations less than two days in advance call 866-273-2773 between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. All calls requesting two day, next day or same day reservations that are received during business hours will be returned as soon as possible within the same business day. All calls requesting next day care that are received after 5:00 pm will be returned beginning at 7:00 am the next business morning*. All reservations requested through the voicemail system must be verbally confirmed before using the center.   

 *Some centers are able to return next day reservation requests received between center closing and 9:00 pm beginning at 9:00 pm.

Cancellation Policy

If you have a confirmed reservation and your plans for care change, please contact your Bright Horizons back-up care program immediately. Notifying us of a cancellation will assist us in making every effort to accommodate other families' requests. Reservations must be canceled no later than 5:00 pm on the business day prior to the day reserved for care. No-shows and late cancellations may be counted as a utilization. Co-pays (if applicable) may apply. Parents who are waitlisted but find care before the scheduled date are encouraged to cancel from the waitlist to allow us to quickly offer any available space to another family who still needs care. Cancellations made before the business day prior to the scheduled date of care can be submitted by phone or by logging in to your online account at www.brighthorizons.com/backup (Select Request Reservations). Cancellations made after the business day before the scheduled date of care must be made by phone.
